An internal auditor reported that the Energy Department’s 2011 inventory did not include more than 500 data centers that are managed by contractors.
Nextgov.com reports that “according to the auditors’ report, Energy failed to introduce several energy efficiency measures in its data centers that could result in significant cost savings.” Energy officials have agreed to step up energy efficiency measures.
