What made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in technology?

Technology is pivotal to our ability to adapt in a changing world, and I want to be to be at the forefront of how we move into a cleaner, safer future.

What inspires you to do what you do?

Data centers are “out of sight, out of mind” to many people – but they are the infrastructure that runs our modern world. It’s my job to make sure we operate our data centers as sustainably as possible. I love being challenged every day with the existential riddle of how to balance business growth with sustainable operations.

What role does sustainability play in your life?

I’ve always felt a great reverence for the natural world. Being environmentally conscious in all aspects of my life is something that has been instilled in me since I was a child.

What is the most fascinating thing you have learned while working in this industry?

The sustainability folks in the data center industry work together, despite being business competitors. I have been on so many calls and webinars where competitors come together to share challenges, opportunities, and solutions. After all, we’ve got to work together to *save the world!*

What’s something unique about you professionally?

I am sincerely optimistic about our future on this planet, which I think is rare among environmentalists. I have been in rooms with brilliant people working together to solve impossible problems. Every day I see that we are at the forefront of so many groundbreaking emerging technologies.

What’s your most admirable quality?

I am an eternal optimist!

Why is diversity, equality, and inclusion important to you?

It’s important that everyone has a seat at the table as we work together to solve the most complex challenges of the world. Wisdom and knowledge is more profound when it comes from many different places.

What aspect of the industry do you think has the most potential for growth, and, on the other hand, which aspect do you think needs the most improvement?

There is a lot of room for growth as we explore data center technologies that will make our buildings and machines more efficient. The biggest area of opportunity for our industry is communication with the broader world on the use, impact, and importance of data centers on everyday life.

When you imagine the future of the technology industry, what does it look like?

I see the future of the tech industry as inclusive and forward-thinking – rich in its diversity, and always at the forefront of groundbreaking technologies.
