The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems (568) has issued a call for interest for document TIA-568.2-D initially titled Balanced Twisted-Pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard. This document is a revision to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2, Balanced Twisted-Pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard, which was published in August, 2009.

Since 2009, there have been significant advances in telecommunications cabling technology, test procedures, and expansion of the capability of balanced twisted pair-cabling to support additional applications. ANSI/TIA-568.2-D is part of the ‘568 family’ of Standards including ANSI/TIA-568.0-D (Generic Telecommunications Cabling for Customer Premises), ANSI/TIA-568.1-D (Commercial Building Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard), and ANSI/TIA-568.3-D (Optical Fiber Cabling and Components Standard).
