Switch Datacenters Opens Second Datacenter In The Netherlands
Upgrade of former ABN AMRO data center will lead to an efficiency improvement not seen before.
Switch Datacenters is expanding its capacity with the purchase of the former ABN AMRO data center in Woerden (NL). The data center is purchased for an amount of eleven million Euros and is leased to one of the largest cloud providers in the world. The new location will also function as twin data center for the existing Switch Datacenter in Amsterdam. Just like the location in the Amsterdam South East business district, the data center in Woerden uses solid techniques for guaranteed electricity, security, and connectivity.
"The take-over of this Tier3+ build data center is an important addition to the product supply of Switch Datacenters that is concentrated on the larger cloud environments and customers with a need for twin data center solutions.", says Gregor Snip, founder and CEO of Switch Datacenter Group. The entire complex consists of 2 buildings with a total surface area of 12,500 m2, of which the data center building accounts for 5,500 m2. Switch Datacenters will upgrade the cooling, energy capacity, and efficiency of the data center in Woerden so that a power usage efficiency (PUE) factor of less than 1.10 can be obtained in the short term, just like its data center in Amsterdam. This efficiency improvement has not been achieved before with an upgrade of an existing data center in Europe.
