ABB collaborates with Ecotricity on 10-MW grid-scale battery project

The project, a 10-MW/20-MWh li-ion energy storage system will be colocated alongside Ecotricity’s wind farm in Alveston, Gloucestershire, which was constructed in 2017. The lithium-ion batteries will be supplied by Kore Power, and the BESS will be controlled by ABB’s eStorage OS energy management system.
Using a modular approach, ABB’s microgrid solutions allow data centers to operate fully off-grid, powered by their own solar or wind generation coupled with battery energy storage systems (BESS), or partially off-grid by utilizing both renewables and power networks.
