While most data centers use air-cooled chillers that have free cooling coils to benefit from lower ambient conditions, air-cooled, magnetic bearing centrifugal chillers can operate at inverted conditions and provide free cooling without the need for additional coils.
Testing laboratory, service maintenance team, and apprenticeship program launch at Virginia facility

The new lab can test a complete range of air conditioning equipment, accommodating air-cooled chillers up to 2.1 MW and water-cooled chillers up to 5 MW.
The chiller is up to 300% efficient at typical operating conditions, which means it can transfer three times more heat than the energy used by the equipment.
To maximize uptime, the YVAM features Quick Start technology with integral uninterruptible power supply (UPS) backup, allowing the chiller to return to full load in as little as three minutes after power is restored.
The first Airedale chillers recently shipped from the newly repurposed facility

Virginia is the largest data center market in the world, and Northern Virginia is home to more than 20% of all known hyperscale data centers worldwide.
This is the company’s third chiller to earn cybersecure assurance

Working to minimize emissions while making the most of the energy used, the YMC2 chiller requires less energy consumption, reducing the energy production and the resulting carbon emissions.
HVAC system can become a revenue-generator for enterprises and can ultimately provide an energy source that would otherwise be wasted if released into the atmosphere.
It’s a common question during the early design phase of large mechanical systems: “Is open-loop or closed-loop cooling equipment better suited for this project?”
York YK and YZ centrifugal chillers bring cyber-resilient solutions to market

The ISASecure program was established to independently certify the cybersecurity of operational technology and automation control systems, such as those deployed within smart buildings.
On DemandData center cooling technology has evolved incredibly over the past several decades. Today, we’ll look at that evolutionary path, where it led us and where it goes from here. More specifically, we’ll dive into how these technologies and designs play a major role amid current supply chain restraints
