In IT, there are many words of advice. It seems that these days everyone seems to be marketing the “best” and “only” solutions for everything from power and cooling to data transactions.
When you look at all the various departments in a data center and their various budgets, this does not create the best environment for the company’s overall interests.
We have become commoditized in some of our purchasing decisions and very picky in others. Some companies sole source networking gear for instance, then buy the least expensive infrastructure to run it on, and open spec everything else with the least expensive winning the business.
