Chris Crosby is founder and CEO of Compass Datacenters. He has more than 25 years of technology, real estate, and investment experience. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin. He currently serves as the vice chair of the board for the master’s in datacenter systems engineering degree program at Southern Methodist University and is also active in the Lonestar chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
Physical security has come a long way in our industry. Sometimes I miss the ritual of signing in on the clipboard and chatting with Phil about the weather. I’m old-fashioned that way, but even my nostalgic self can’t help but admire the progress we’re making in this field and how much it is contributing to securing critical IT assets.
Between 2002 and 2015, the Veterans Administration changed its policies to better assist veterans by more than doubling money spent on programs related to employment and education, the top two areas of need among veterans. Many large corporations stepped up to the plate too and started seeking out veteran hires. It worked.
Data released in November 2021 by the International Energy Agency shows the industry has done a tremendous job of serving needs without consuming more power. It’s a verified and impressive fact we can be proud of. And it’s time that we, as an industry, get a little more vocal about our accomplishments.
