KOHLER, Wisc. — Kohler is a supporting sponsor of International Data Center Day 2021. The event, which took place on March 24, is designed to create awareness for the data center industry while inspiring and educating the next generation of talent. According to organizers, the fact that 90% of the world’s data today was created in the last two years illustrates the important role that data centers have in the information age.

“Data centers fuel the future, but people are the spark,” said Sean Farney, director of data center marketing at Kohler. “We embrace the educational opportunities International Data Center Day creates for the industry’s future leaders, and we are proud to help promote the various career paths that are available.”

While the career opportunities in the data center industry are vast, a shortage of skilled workers persists. The Uptime Institute estimates the number of data center staff needed will increase from 2 million in 2019 to approximately 2.3 million by 2025. In honor of International Data Center Day, Kohler is leveraging its globally recognized brand to generate awareness for opportunities available to future leaders in the data center field. In the coming months, Kohler is committed to developing an internship program to promote opportunities related to data center-focused careers at the company, as well as developing on-site technical training programs. Company leaders will also share information on the impact the industry has on their daily lives to everyone across the Kohler family of companies, including key stakeholders, vendors, and other partners.

“Kohler is powering the future with proven data center generator solutions,” said Farney. “We continue to invest in the industry by expanding our manufacturing facilities, adding product lines, like our new generator enclosures, and expanding our global service capabilities.”
