What made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in technology?
I’ve always had a love and interest in the mechanics and operation of technology. The interesting thing is that my career did not start in technology. I actually stumbled into the technology industry through sales. That is the beautiful thing about technology: Everyone is part of it, even if they don’t realize it. The added beauty for me is that combining sales with technology has created amazing opportunities for me to give back. Servant leadership is at the heart of everything I do, and my career in technology continuously allows me to serve in meaningful and fulfilling ways. I am extremely thankful.
What three adjectives would you use to describe your journey in the industry so far?
Positive, adaptable, and growth-minded.
Always stay positive, no matter what.
Be adaptable and ready to constantly change.
Always be willing to learn, so you can continue to grow.
What is your personal mantra?
Be your authentic self. In the words of Dr. Seuss: “Today you are you, that is true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”
Describe the highest point in your career so far and how you got there, including all the hurdles you had to jump (and the ones you tripped over and too).
The highest point in my career so far was creating an amazing organization and being recognized for it by the Dallas Business Journal. Most importantly, I have an amazing team of educated, intelligent, and loving women that are equally as invested in the mission as myself. There have been a lot of ups and down. We’ve had struggles —most notably while working through COVID. But, since our team is so resilient, strong, and united, we went global in 2020 in spite of COVID.
What is your most admirable quality?
I embrace who I am and acknowledge and accept my flaws without apology. I am who I am.
What aspect of the industry do you think has the most potential for growth, and, on the other hand, which aspect do you think needs the most improvement?
Artificial intelligence has the most growth potential of all and is currently being utilized in many industries, including hospitality, retail, automotive, and more. AI will be the future. Cybersecurity needs the most improvement. There are too many breaches in some organizations that have the most sensitive information. Cybersecurity is essential in our lives and is designed to protect us. That needs more improvement for sure.
When you imagine the future of the technology industry, what does it look like?
I see IoT and AI being utilized more in the future. Robots will replace many daily job duties. More daily life essentials will operate by using the IoT.
What is the most valuable life lesson you have learned so far and how has it helped you in your career?
Life has a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes the people you love the most may hurt you, but never stop moving forward and never stop showing love — no matter what.
What three adjectives come to mind when you think about your future path?
Compassionate, resilient, and authentic.
Always show love and kindness.
Never be defeated — get up and keep going.
Always be your authentic self.
