The Associated Builders and Contractors’ South Texas Region awarded TDIndustries an Excellence in Construction award for work on HCA/Methodist Healthcare’s Stone Oak Hospital.

The accolade came in the $2-$10 million category.

TD renovated and expanded 27,000 sf dedicated to operating, prep/recovery, decontamination, and anesthesia care. TD performed mechanical, plumbing, medical gas, and ductwork installations and change-outs. In addition, TD installed two new air-handling units (renovating a third), a water-cooled chiller package, roof drains and nozzles, and more than 50 plumbing fixtures.

Through collaboration, Pull-Planning, and Lean construction processes, the team completed the renovation portion approximately two months early and the expansion a month ahead of schedule.

“We are thankful for the recognition, which also belongs to the rest of our collaborative team: Layton Construction, PCI, Siemens, Johnson Controls, and Texas Cutting & Coring,” said Kyle Jinks, project manager. “We leaned on each other’s strengths, which helped us complete the project much faster than the owner anticipated.”

This renovation/expansion marks the first of several high-profile health care projects in San Antonio: TD worked with North Central Baptist, Northeast Methodist, and will build the new Veterans Affairs outpatient facility, which opens in 2021.

TD will attend an Aug. 8 banquet, and advance its application to the national competition.
