Flexenclosure has completed construction of a data centre for global communications and IT provider CenturyLink in Chile. Located in the Chilean capital, Santiago, CenturyLink will use the facility to expand its data and cloud services portfolio for existing and new business customers, governments and carriers.
CenturyLink is the second largest communications provider in the United States to the global corporate market, with customers in over 60 countries worldwide. The new eCentre provides a significant capacity expansion for CenturyLink’s existing Premier Elite data centre in Santiago. It will be directly linked to CenturyLink’s local, regional and global data centre network and will be used to offer colocation, hosting, cloud computing, security, collaboration, communication and managed services to its national and international corporate clients.
"We are committed to deploying the highest quality infrastructure and providing the most innovative solutions and services to our customers," said Gabriel del Campo, Vice president of data centre, security and cloud at CenturyLink Latin America. "Building our new data centre with prefabricated modules allowed for a more efficient construction, faster implementation time and significantly improved operational efficiency.”
The first phase of the project consists of a single-story 300 KW data centre. However, the earthquake-resistant facility is capable of vertical expansion up to two floors, providing additional white space for more than 100 racks on each floor, thus optimising the site footprint for maximum use.
“This new data centre in Santiago is just one of a fast-growing list of Flexenclosure deployments in Latin America,” said David King, CEO, Flexenclosure. “eCentre is the solution of choice for data centres requiring almost unlimited configuration flexibility without compromising on future expansion options, so they can quickly and easily grow in line with business needs.”
The custom-designed eCentre data centre was prefabricated, pre-integrated and fully tested at Flexenclosure’s manufacturing facility in Sweden, before being shipped to Chile for final construction and commissioning on site — maximising capital efficiency and reducing deployment time and overall project risk.
