Last issue, March/April 2018, I started an editorial about the hottest topic at that time, blockchain. I shelved it to highlight our Mission Critical Magazine Facility Manager of the Year contest. By the way, do you know of any exceptional mission critical facility managers? Nominate him or her for the Mission Critical Magazine Facility Manager of the Year! Nominations are open until August 31, 2018 at https://bit.ly/2LSdJGq.
THE NEWS CYCLE KEEPS MOVING
The news cycle, especially in this industry, moves very fast, so before I move on to the next hot topic, my unprinted point on blockchain was that for data centers, adaption to this technology and new business strategies is key to staying ahead of the curve.
Look for more coverage of this and more new technology in the coming months, such as Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. According to TELEHOUSE, data centers are both serving and being served by AI because “AI applications need the global data centers to provide the necessary computational power and AI applications are being developed to improve the data centers themselves.”
Julius Neudorfer, our “Hot Aisle Insight” columnist, tackles the AI question this month. He is always ahead of the curve. Again, look for more insights in future issues.
