ClearDB has introduced its end-to-end Data Services Platform, a cornerstone that supports the company’s vision to change the way databases are consumed. Deployed today with major cloud suppliers, ClearDB integrates geo-distributed and database virtualization technologies with global orchestration, provisioning, billing, telemetry and support into a centralized on-demand licensing and delivery model that simplifies the management of database assets.

ClearDB also announced the appointment of Michael Gustafson as executive chairman of its board of directors, Jeff Vogel as CEO, Allen Holmes as vice president of marketing and platform alliances and Tim Swette as vice president of sales operations.

Designed to work on major public clouds and to support private cloud and on-premise operations, ClearDB’s nonstop data services platform automates the provisioning and management process with an intuitive services framework that accelerates performance and guarantees high availability in any cloud marketplace, including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Heroku, AppFog, SoftLayer and IBM Bluemix — all while reducing database license footprint and related infrastructure costs up to 85%.

Available today, ClearDB’s Data Services Platform builds on the company’s database as a service (DBaaS) offerings and radically simplifies the way transactional and analytic database workloads are provisioned and managed. The secure platform employs technologies for management, orchestration, provisioning, billing, telemetry and support and provides exceptional asset utilization and reduced overall costs.

“In today’s always-on, data-driven, global economy, the database is often the lifeblood for business success,” said 451 Research Analyst Jason Stamper. “ClearDB is attempting to address critical requirements for database efficiency, reliability and choice on premises and in the cloud.”

ClearDB envisions that the next step beyond native cloud DBaaS is the promise of self-service market place solutions that integrate the database infrastructure with the application. The platform solutions would deliver on-premise cloud-like capabilities that enable IT and DBAs to focus on helping application and business owners with a proven, scalable and efficient services model that will unlock business innovation and accelerate growth.

“ClearDB is executing on an aggressive strategy to build upon our DBaaS business to deliver a nonstop, secure, integrated data services platform that leverages our proven cloud technologies and the experiences that we’ve gained providing services to more than 200,000 users,” said ClearDB CEO Jeff Vogel. “With a strong foundational offering combined with our global footprint, partnerships and diverse customer set, we’re excited about the next phase of our growth strategy.”
