NuoDB, Inc. has  released the results of a research survey of more than 200 IT personnel regarding their cloud computing strategies and usage.

Highlights of the survey include:

  • 60% of respondents consider cloud to be one of their companies’ top three business or IT initiatives but only 14% actually have a dedicated cloud strategist
  • Technology vendors lead in cloud adoption; 69% of technology vendors and IT consultancies have been using cloud computing for more than three years compared to 38% of endusers
  • Contrary to early conjecture cost savings were not cited as the most important reason for cloud adoption. 30% of respondents, the plurality, said “on demand scalability” was the number one driver for their organizations to adopt cloud computing
