tw telecom has announced an agreement with Equinix, Inc. to be the first company to provide customers with Business Ethernet solutions in the Seattle SE3 International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center facility; including via the Equinix Cloud Exchange.

Using tw telecom's eLynksm product suite, customers can connect between any two of the company's on-net data centers or to thousands of customer locations nationwide on its network. tw telecom's network also features the company's Intelligent Network, a highly scalable solution providing real-time automation to help increase productivity and more efficiently manage costs.

tw telecom can also provide seamless and direct access to multiple cloud services and providers on the Equinix Cloud Exchange, an interconnection service that gives enterprises direct access to the services they need to build sophisticated hybrid cloud solutions. This offering gives enterprises better, faster, easier access to Equinix's cloud ecosystem through tw telecom's secure, scalable, elastic and predictable Business Ethernet connections.

The presence in Seattle also enables tw telecom to offer SE3 tenants secure performance and optimized connectivity directly to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud via a direct connection to the Western US and GovCloud regions. AWS enables businesses to run important operations in the cloud with unlimited scalability, including enterprise applications, big data projects and mobile applications. Customers using tw telecom's eLynk Express for AWS will benefit from a reliable, secure and rapidly scalable connection to the AWS cloud with lower transfer rates versus connecting via the Internet.

"We are excited to have tw telecom connect to SE3 and look forward to supporting their present and future data center needs," said Jim Poole, vice president, global service providers, Equinix. "Seattle is a very strategic market for our customers as they implement robust networking and cloud solutions to facilitate business growth. This relationship with tw telecom demonstrates our ability to collaborate with one of the nation's top network service providers to offer a robust IT backbone to our customers."

Adjacent to the existing Westin Carrier Hotel in downtown Seattle, the new SE3 facility is 58,685 gross square feet and offers much needed capacity for tw telecom customers. Equinix's ability to provide on-demand and direct access to multiple types of clouds – hybrid, public and private – as well as connections to multiple destinations from the SE3 data center location, are critical in helping customers improve their business performance.

"As our customers' business needs continue to evolve, security, capacity and access to the cloud are critical priorities for us to help solve their most pressing challenges," said David King, vice president and general manager, tw telecom Seattle. "Expanding our relationship with Equinix here in Seattle is a critical step in helping solve capacity challenges while offering more efficient access to the cloud for our customers. Working with Equinix and leveraging its Cloud Exchange ecosystem provides the speed to market, cost efficiency and return on investment that are paramount to our customers' success."
