Schneider Electric has introduced seven new low voltage (LV) direct replacement breaker solutions for the complete DS circuit breaker product line for SquareD, Cutler-Hammer, and Westinghouse switchgear. With this availability, users of DS breakers now have a cost-effective solution for modernizing aging equipment to improve reliability, reduce costs, and decrease risk.
The new factory-tested and IEEE C37.59-compliant LV solutions include fully loaded direct replacement breakers for all switchgear using the DS/DSII 632 breaker, rated up to 85kA, as well as fused DSL & DSLII breakers rated up to 200kA/1600A. The replacement breakers are designed to fit into the existing electrical cubicle, increasing installation efficiency by requiring little to no modification to the switchgear cell and reducing overall downtime.
“Aging electrical infrastructure constitutes a very serious threat across all industries, with older equipment posing safety concerns and putting facilities at risk for costly unplanned downtime. But full rip and replace isn’t always practical,” said John Blaylock, vice president, modernization and consulting services, Schneider Electric’s U.S. Services Division. “Upgrading aging equipment is a cost-effective alternative and Schneider Electric’s LV Direct Replacement solutions for DS circuit breakers enable facilities and electrical personal to save money while promoting efficiency, improving safety, and increasing reliability.”
Backed by Schneider Electric’s standard equipment warranty and immediately available, the LV direct replacement circuit breakers provide a flexible solution for customers by enabling them to maintain their familiar DS breaker technology while eliminating the need to pay the premiums associated with purchasing newer models.
