Hydro One Telecom Inc. has selected Cologix to deploy its point of presence (PoP) in Montreal. Hydro One Telecom chose Cologix’s MTL 7 data centre at 1155 Robert-Bourassa Boulevard in downtown Montreal to support new client growth and existing customer services.

Hydro One Telecom is a facilities-based carrier that offers high-speed data networking services for critical infrastructure in Ontario, Montreal, Buffalo, and Detroit, leveraging fibre routes from its parent company, Hydro One Inc., to provide unique routes and redundancy for its customers in the carrier, financial and enterprise segments. Hydro One Telecom prides itself on its customer-centric service approach, which has led to a more than 90% customer satisfaction rate.

“Our strategy for growth is to create a broader geographic footprint that enables us to offer services to more customers,” said David Hurst, telecom sales & marketing vice president, Hydro One. “Montreal is a growth opportunity for us and colocating with Cologix immediately makes our services available to a larger set of potential customers in that market.”

“Cologix is the largest network neutral data centre provider in Canada, which allows us to facilitate more natural connections between network buyers and sellers than anyone else across our footprint,” explained Andre van Zijl, Canada general manager, Cologix. “We are pleased to work with Hydro One Telecom in the Montreal marketplace as their unique network and standout customer service will add richness to the already broad set of fibre networks serving demand in the market.  We are all the more gratified that Hydro One Telecom chose to expand their relationship with Cologix from their existing presence with us in Toronto.”
