TierPoint LLC has announced the promotion of David Foster to the newly created role of vice president, data center facilities. A 15-year veteran of the industry, Foster most recently was general manager of TierPoint’s Jacksonville facility and operations. TierPoint also announced that Robert Lupo will succeed Foster as general manager in Jacksonville.

In his new role reporting to TierPoint president and COO Tom McMillin, Foster will be responsible for establishing companywide standards, processes and key performance indicators (KPIs) for TierPoint’s 39 data center facilities and operations nationwide. He will also provide guidance and oversight for all TierPoint data center expansions, as well as driving efficiency improvements across the company’s data center operations.

“We are extremely thankful for Dave’s contributions as general manager of our Jacksonville facility, including his leadership of the recent renovation and planned expansion of that data center,” McMillin said. “His experience and strong track record in data center management will be invaluable in his new role supporting the larger enterprise’s continued growth and success. We are also very pleased to have Robert joining us as general manager in Jacksonville. He’s an accomplished and respected industry veteran with strong ties to the local community.”

Prior to TierPoint, Foster served as director of data center engineering for Windstream Hosted Solutions, where he led efforts to expand their footprint from five to more than 20 data centers across the country. He also served as director of data center operations for hosted solutions and vice president for Altruent Systems.

Robert Lupo has more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure support design and implementation leadership. He served as CEO of CxP Data Centers in Jacksonville for four years and most recently was managing partner of a cloud solutions provider based in Jacksonville.
