Future Facilities North America (Future Facilities NA) has announced that Belden, a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission critical applications, has tapped Future Facilities for its Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling and simulation software.
By utilizing Future Facilities’ 6SigmaDCX, Belden helps customers to quantify data center performance in terms of its ability to deliver power and cooling to the IT load and utilize power and the infrastructure efficiently. Most importantly, Belden uses simulation to help customers to close the performance gap which can significantly reduce data center operational and CAPEX costs.
“We’re excited to offer new technology that empowers data center managers to make decisions based on engineering simulation,” says Michael Peterson, technology and applications manager, data centers, Belden. “When we can work with clients to tell them whether a planned change can be made without negatively impacting uptime, energy efficiency or productivity, they’ll be able to avoid critical events and make choices more confidently.”
Many data center owner/operators base their future IT decisions on the assumption that their current infrastructure can accommodate the unpredictable changes to data center requirements that the business demands. However, in reality, sole reliance on established systems and institutional best practices often are one of the most common causes of problems for data centers and as they struggle to adapt to new needs.
“Engineering simulation is crucial to predicting the impact of change on cost, risk and performance.” said Robert Schmidt, sales manager, Future Facilities. “We’re excited to partner with Belden to offer our best-of-breed solution to their customers in the mission critical space.”
