Siemens Building Technologies Division has released version 2.2 of its Datacenter Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution Datacenter Clarity LC.1 Based on Siemens' successful Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, Datacenter Clarity LC combines lifecycle management, process automation and other services, making it the most comprehensive DCIM solution currently on the market.

Bridging the gap between IT and facility management is essential if a data center is to operate cost-efficiently. Visualizing and managing all assets necessary for operation allows data centers to optimize energy demand and ensure operational transparency. Datacenter Clarity LC combines information from a number of subsystems which until now have often been operated separately, including energy management, building management, fire safety, building monitoring, data storage systems, switches, routers, servers and racks. It displays infrastructure and IT component performance data in real time and in 3D, allowing data center operators to keep track and create insightful reports. With its open architecture, the solution supports more than 850 protocols from IT und facility management applications.

One of the new features in Version 2.2 is the HTML 5-based web interface. It provides access to Datacenter Clarity LC from any web browser and allows users to work with their dashboards anytime and anywhere. At the same time, the web interface makes the platform more intuitive to operate. Integration between Datacenter Clarity LC and IT service management (ITSM) solutions was improved as well. It is not possible to group assets logically and add tracking attributes to them as well as disable automatic asset inventory creation. In addition, alarm management was refined so that critical alarms from the subsystems can be viewed and managed in Clarity LC.
