Retarus is now additionally providing its services from a new data center in Frankfurt (Main). The global provider of messaging services is expanding its Frankfurt hub into a comprehensive and autonomous site. In addition to the German locations, Retarus also operates data centers in Switzerland, the U.S., Asia, and Australia. Customer data is always processed locally, in accordance with the data privacy regulations applicable for the site.

The recently opened data center is situated in a separate secure area on the Frankfurt campus of a leading European colocation provider. Retarus exclusively relies on its own equipment which is operated only by Retarus staff. A multilevel physical security concept coupled with information processes certified according to ISO 22301 und ISO 27001 ensure top levels of protection for sensitive data. The new site is directly connected to numerous carriers and internet service providers, and benefits from low latency times as a result of its location at the internet exchange node DE-CIX. The data center meets the highest standards for energy efficiency and also benefits from a redundant and failsafe power supply.

Parallel sites ensure business continuity

“With the new data center in Frankfurt we now offer an even higher availability of our services,” explains Jürgen Peschel, CTO of the Retarus Group, with regard to the expansion. “Parallel, independent sites ensure business continuity and provide opportunities for distributed production.” The decision regarding in which data center the data is processed, is fundamentally in the hands of the customer and is contractually assured by Retarus. In this way the Retarus Group ensures the strict separation of their European and US data centers at all times, especially regarding the processing of personal data.

Globally distributed data centers for worldwide flexibility

“The opening of the new site is an important step forward in the continuous expansion of our global infrastructure” says Johannes Hecker, COO of the Retarus Group. “Our network of data centers spread around the globe provides companies both high flexibility and utmost transparency regarding the location where the data is processed.”

Security standards according to local regulatory requirements

All international Retarus data centers and globally available communication services are operated autonomously according to highest security standards and fulfill the strictest requirements for data security and compliance. The security level at Retarus also always complies with the applicable local regulatory and sector-specific requirements, such as the Federal Data Privacy Act (BDSG), EU guideline EU95/46, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
