Nlyte Software has introduced the first data center service management (DCSM) solution combining data center infrastructure management, robust workflow capabilities, and seamless integration into IT service management (ITSM) solutions. Nlyte now enables seamless integration between ITSM systems and physical data center workflows with new DCSM products: Nlyte for BMC ITSM, Nlyte for HP ITSM and Nlyte for ServiceNow ITSM. These products bridge the often-overlooked divide in IT organizations, enabling enterprises to maintain accurate, up-to-the minute information about their IT and data center assets, streamline their processes and improve the measurement of data center operations, thus improving service level agreements (SLAs).
“IT leaders want to continually drive down costs for delivering their SLAs, but they have been challenged to do so for processes involving the physical data center. For this reason, we’ve expanded Nlyte’s DCIM capabilities with these new offerings, effectively augmenting the ITSM suite with a new DCSM application,” said Rob Neave, CTO and co-founder at Nlyte. “DSCM not only bridges the divide between DCIM and ITSM, but it gives enterprises full control and visibility of data center processes, not just from the data center perspective, but even more importantly, from the purview of IT.”
The Nlyte for ITSM DCSM solutions are each built on the proven Nlyte 7 flagship DCIM solution and come with best-in-class workflow functionality and pre-built connectors for the configuration management database (CMDB) and change management solutions of BMC, HP and ServiceNow.
“The tight integration between Nlyte and our BMC tool suite will provide us with a holistic view of our assets and further support our ITSM process improvement initiatives, such as asset lifecycle and configuration management, service catalog, and change and incident management, to name a few,” said Brian Desberg, director of Enterprise Data Center Operations at Sutter Health.
Benefits of using the Nlyte for ITSM editions include:
- More accurate information – By integrating Nlyte with existing ITSM solutions, enterprises can ensure information within their CMDB and asset management systems is synched in real time as changes occur in the data center. Additionally, any of the Nlyte for ITSM editions are able to track and provide a unique set of asset properties, such as exact location of assets, resources consumed by those assets and how assets are interconnected with one another, which augments CMDB and asset management systems.
- Tightly integrated processes – The Nlyte for ITSM DCSM solutions establish seamless processes across IT and into the data center, such as adding new resources, alerting IT to physical resource limitations in the data center and scheduled downtime, as well as migrations and consolidations. They also improve change management systems by providing more granular insight into the status of change request steps that occur in the data center, enabling more control and consistency.
- Improved accountability and measurement of efficiency and costs – The Nlyte for ITSM DCSM solutions provide improved transparency into data center processes, allowing the solutions to more accurately measure work being performed there. With this improved insight, organizations get a better understanding of the costs of delivering SLAs to the business when the data center is involved, as well as a complete total cost of ownership analysis for IT asset management systems.
“The next big step in the evolution and deployment of ITSM and DCIM is for them to be tied closely together, with DCIM integrated as a component of, or complement to, ITSM. This is becoming especially important for companies with data centers, where efficient, proactive and reliable services are critical,” said Andy Lawrence, vice president of Research, Data Center Technology at 451 Research. “When you combine these systems, you create end-to-end DCSM, which is the end game for companies looking to optimize their data centers and build an efficient and reliable foundation for service delivery.”
