Webair has announced that it has successfully completed a Statement on Standards of Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) Controls at a Service Organization (SOC 1) Type 2 audit certification for its NY1 data center located on Long Island, NY. The SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 certification demonstrates Webair’s dedication to providing the highest levels of security and reliability across its data center infrastructure, systems, processes and services in order to effectively support global customers’ business environments and offer critical protection for sensitive company information.

Recognized around the world as a superior control and services reporting standards, SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 certification was established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is a critical designation for serving Webair’s health care, financial services, eCommerce and government customers. To achieve SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 certification, Webair underwent an independent examination of control objectives and activities supporting its Managed Hosting solutions performed by independent service auditor BrightLine Certified Public Accountants & Associates.

In addition to completing its SSAE 16 certification audit, BrightLine also completed a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Standard Matrix which reviewed Webair’s administrative actions, policies and procedures for HIPAA / Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HIPAA-HITECH) compliance. Webair’s NY1 data center and Managed Hosting services are fully HIPAA-HITECH compliant, featuring a number of safeguards to ensure maximum data protection and safe transmission of electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI). Webair is also one of the few Managed Hosting providers that signs HIPAA Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with customers, demonstrating its commitment to the proper storage and security of ePHI for the healthcare and enterprise markets.

“Achieving SSAE 16 and HIPAA-HITECH compliance validates that Webair’s stringent internal processes, safeguards and IT controls for hosting sensitive customer data exceed global security requirements,” says Michael Christopher Orza, CEO of Webair. “The designations provide our customers with the peace of mind of knowing that their data and equipment are safe and secure within our flagship NY1 data center facility so that they can focus on their core business.”

BrightLine Certified Public Accountants & Associates performed an in-depth inspection and analysis of Webair’s executive oversight, risk assessment, information and communication systems, environmental and physical security, and more. After completing the thorough examination, NY1 and Webair’s Managed Hosting services were declared SSAE 16 compliant with clean opinion and no exceptions.
