EdgeConneX has partnered with Fibertech Networks to provide fiber connectivity to the Detroit area’s newest and most advanced Tier III Edge Data Center®(EDC), located in the city of Southfield, MI.

Fibertech Networks is building diverse points of entrance into the EdgeConneX Detroit EDC, providing a redundant network solution for bandwidth-intensive content to local-market consumers, and offering the lowest possible latency. Fibertech’s fiber optic network will also allow EdgeConneX customers to access dark fiber, lit transport services and IP connectivity at the EDC to ensure dynamic content delivery.

“Our Detroit EDC is purpose-built and precisely located to provide the shortest and fastest routes for content delivery to local consumers, enterprises and Internet customers,” remarks Clint Heiden, chief commercial officer at EdgeConneX. “Internet users in the greater Michigan area will no longer have their Internet content served to them remote from Chicago, but instead locally from this new Edge Data Center. Fibertech is one of the nation’s fastest growing fiber-optic bandwidth providers and it was a natural partnership for us to further enable connectivity for our customers in the greater Michigan area.”

Fibertech has built more than 12,000 route miles of network in 30 markets across the Northeast and Midwest regions, and is currently completing the build-out of more than 800 miles of fiber optic infrastructure in Southeastern Michigan.

“Providing diverse fiber access into EdgeConneX’ Detroit Edge Data Center enables Fibertech to meet the local market’s dynamic content delivery demands with high-performance fiber connectivity,” remarks Michael Hurley, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing at Fibertech Networks. “Our newly-deployed, rich fiber density in the region and the shared ability to recognize the value presented by the Detroit area make Fibertech the ideal connectivity partner for EdgeConneX’s data center expansion.”

EdgeConneX specializes in providing purpose-built, power dense and edge of network Edge Data Centers and wirelesssolutions that enable the fastest delivery of content to end-users. EdgeConneX has created a new edge of the Internet by designing and deploying facilities that are strategically positioned nearest to network provider aggregation points, ensuring the lowest latency data delivery, with an improved quality of service.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the EdgeConneX Detroit Edge Data Center will be held in partnership with TelNet Worldwide on March 25, 2015.
