Acquisition combines market’s leading enterprise data centers with network neutral interconnect site
Cologix™ has announced it has closed a transaction to acquire Colo5, a colocation and disaster recovery provider with over 225K gross SQF across two enterprise-grade hurricane resistant facilities in Jacksonville and Lakeland, FL. This is the ninth acquisition for Cologix, adding scale to its rapidly growing network neutral North American data center platform. More than 100 customers, ranging from local enterprises to Fortune 500 brands across finance, retail, media and system integrator sectors trust their mission critical IT deployments to Colo5.
The acquisition solidifies Cologix’s leading position in Jacksonville with ownership of land and 125K SQF of data center and disaster recovery space in a wholly-owned, Class 5 hurricane rated building. The combination of Colo5 and Cologix creates a tie between the largest collections of enterprise network buyers and network service providers in the region. Jacksonville is a vibrant local economy, which is gaining importance globally with the multiple sub-sea cables landing there directly from Central and South America. In addition, Cologix can now offer 100K SQF of data center and disaster recovery space in Lakeland, which is centrally located between Tampa and Orlando at an elevation of 197 ft. (nearly 20 stories) above sea level. Lakeland's elevation and proximity to major market centers make it a natural location for primary or secondary IT sites for enterprises in Tampa, Orlando and Miami. Colo5’s success in Lakeland and available capacity accelerates Cologix’s plans to expand in Florida by 18 months.
