Green House Data has announced achievement of Certified B Corporation (B Corp) status. B Corps use the power of business to solve environmental and social problems. The company is the first B Corp in the state of Wyoming.
B Corporations are certified by the nonprofit organization B Lab as having voluntarily met the rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, and accountability and transparency within the overall goal of redefining success in business.
“This is an excellent recognition for our company,” said Shawn Mills, president of Green House Data. “We built our company with sustainability and stewardship as part of our primary mission, and we’re thrilled to work with B Corp to formalize our commitments.”
Since opening its doors in 2007, Green House Data has operated with the goal of providing a greener option for enterprise IT Infrastructure in an industry that has historically been extremely resource intensive. In addition to being completely powered by renewable energy, the company utilizes highly energy efficient data center design within each of their geographically diverse facilities. Pairing this mission with the Green House Gives program, which provides IT resources and support to non-profit organizations, has helped the company reach B Corp status.
“We are excited to welcome Green House Data as a Certified B Corporation,” said Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab. “The firm has shown leadership by becoming the first Certified B Corp in Wyoming and we hope they will inspire many others to join the movement using business as a force for good.”
Green House Data joins other B Corps like New Belgium Brewing, Etsy, Renewable Choice and Patagonia. As of January 2014, there are more than 900 Certified B Corporations from over 60 industries and 29 countries, representing a diverse multi-billion dollar marketplace.
