Hurricane Electrichas announced that it has connected to the BBIX Internet Exchange in Tokyo.

The new exchange point will provide customers of BBIX with reduced latency, improved fault tolerance, and access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100BaseT, 1GigE, 10Gbps, and 100GE service. Additionally, customers of BBIX will now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s global network.

“Over the last year, Hurricane Electric has seen a rapid increase in growth and customer demand in the Asia Pacific region, and we are delighted to provide additional connectivity options to customers of BBIX,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. “This new connection will provide lower latency, fewer router hops, and greater bandwidth for their Internet traffic and network needs.”

Just last week, Hurricane Electric announced that it was named to Renesys’ “Baker’s Dozen”list of the world’s largest Internet providers.
