Moogsoft has joined the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) as a contributor member.

ODCA’s 300+ member companies work actively to shape the future of cloud computing based on open, interoperable solutions for secure cloud federation, automation, common management ,and transparency of cloud service delivery.

ODCA invited Moogsoft to contribute its expertise in service assurance to help build this vision. The Moogsoft team brings a strong pedigree of commitment to service assurance, both as a solution provider and an adopter of ODCA guidelines.

“We are deeply committed to ODCA’s mission,” said Dave Casper, CTO North America, Moogsoft. “Innovation and open guidelines are urgently needed to support successful, enterprise-scale cloud adoption. The widening disconnect between physical infrastructure (underlay) and services delivered (overlay) will wreak havoc if unaddressed. Moogsoft, working with the ODCA, will jointly develop solutions designed to keep the lights on.”

A very important part of ODCA’s work is defining usage models, which aim to create a uniform way of describing user requirements. ODCA has created usage models for compute infrastructure, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), data security, security monitoring, VM interoperability, SDN, scale out storage and more. The adoption and scope of ODCA usage models continues to grow.

“As an adopter of ODCA usage models, Moogsoft is taking a leadership role in advancing the deployment of enterprise cloud solutions and services that are interoperable, secure and free of vendor lock-in,” said Marvin Wheeler, executive director, Open Data Center Alliance. “Dave Casper has made significant contributions to ODCA usage models and requirements in the past and we look forward to his continued involvement in helping to drive the development of open standards for enterprise cloud computing as CTO North America for Moogsoft.”
