By now, if you have not already seen the impact on your data centers cooling systems from the dog days of the summer’s heat and humidity, you most likely have a data center that is perfectly designed to meet the worst case ambient conditions with balanced airflow and enough cooling capacity, or you have a highly overcooled site with lots of excess cooling capacity (or perhaps you are simply located in Utopia).
While I am not trying to make this a commentary on global warming, it would seem that weather patterns are changing and more areas are experiencing “unforeseen” extreme weather patterns and events, such as Hurricane Sandy, which can impact data centers now and in the future.
