EarthLink, Inc. has announced the opening of its newest data center on its next-generation cloud hosting platform, located at 8 Great Oaks Boulevard in San Jose, CA. EarthLink has also opened a new local sales office and is growing its employee base to fulfill business demand for its highly-secure, comprehensive IT solutions including cloud hosting, Cloud Workspace, managed security, colocation, cloud server backup, and application solutions in the Silicon Valley.

To help demystify the Cloud for San Jose-area businesses, today EarthLink held a free 'Join the Cloud Evolution' seminar at the Silicon Valley Capital Club that showcased how services such as cloud hosting, dedicated exchange and data center firewalls help businesses improve cost structures and mitigate risk. Industry experts from Cisco and NetApp joined EarthLink for this informational event introducing the new data center and EarthLink capabilities. Participants were also treated to a motivational session with former San Francisco 49er Ronnie Lott.

Leveraging geographically-diverse data centers, EarthLink is creating fault-tolerant, enterprise class IT solutions with nationwide availability and high performing network connectivity. In addition to San Jose, recently EarthLink held seminar events to mark the opening of its data centers in Chicago and Dallas, and will hold a similar event in Miami next month. Combined with EarthLink's current data centers in Pittsford, NY; Marlborough, MA; Columbia, SC and Atlanta, EarthLink's 8 data centers are linked to its nationwide IP network.

According to Michael D. Toplisek, EarthLink executive vice president of sales and marketing, opening a data center in San Jose is an important step in EarthLink's strategy to create a regionally-diverse, expanded IT solutions footprint to support the growing and evolving needs of companies as they seek to virtualize their businesses.

“San Jose is at the heart of the Silicon Valley, one of the most technologically-driven and innovative markets in the country, and an important hub and distribution point for IP traffic," he noted. "Our robust, new San Jose data center provides EarthLink with a West Coast presence that leverages a state-of-the-art, integrated computing and storage platform with power, space and cooling capacity that will scale to support current and future IT service demands.”
