In its latest report, The Green Grid introduces a framework that organizations can use to identify and uniformly describe the key elements of their data centers so that diverse methodologies can evaluate environmental impacts in the same way. The report, Data Centre Life Cycle Assessment Guidelines, examines the benefits of a life cycle approach to environmental impact assessment, deconstructs the process of defining assessment boundaries, and clarifies the relevant stages of a data center’s lifespan. The report is an important step towards establishing a consistent set of product category rules for data centers that can be used to complement any given methodology.
