Frank Frankovsky, a founding member of the Open Compute Project (OCP), has, on the eve of the third Open Compute Project Summit, published a blog post titled, “Enabling Innovation Where It Matters," that reflected on the strides made by the association since the last summit held six months ago.
Frankovsky listed the developments, including the addition of several companies that have joined as official members; new projects that have been proposed to the Incubation Committee; the formation of a convergence strategy between Open Rack, the OCP’s open standard server rack design and Project Scorpio; and the announcement by HP and Dell, who have unveiled clean-sheet server and storage designs.
The Third Open Compute Summit is being held May 2-3 at Rackspace Headquarters in San Antonio, TX.
