In a recent blog post, Winston Saunders, director, Data Center Power Initiatives for Intel, proposed a way to measure data center work efficiency.
The DCUE would be determined by the following:
Work/Energy = Integrated (Server Performance * Utilization)/(Total Data Center Energy)
The DCUE would join PUE and SUE in determining data center capital efficiency by asking the following questions: how efficient is your infrastructure; how effective is your server compute capability; and what is the utilization of your capital assets.
