The Omaha World-Herald is reporting that Nebraska state lawmakers are pursuing a $1.2 billion data center, tentatively named “Project Edge.” Efforts to pass tax and electric-rate incentives are making their way through committee, “to better compete with the reported main competitor for the project, neighboring Iowa,” wrote Paul Hammel and Joe Duggan, World-Herald reporters, in the February 5, 2012 edition of the paper. The owner of the data center has not been made public.
The project is scheduled to break ground May 1.
