SynapSense Corporation and AT&T were recognized at the Uptime Institute Symposium 2011 for their efforts implementing energy efficiency improvements at an AT&T data center.

The recognition was part of Uptime’s 2011 Green Enterprise IT Awards for their collective work in AT&T’s data center. The project furthered optimization of data center efficiency by continuously aligning cooling capacity with IT load, and provided energy savings for the AT&T data center that helped it to qualify for an incentive program offered by AT&T’s regional utility service.

The implementation of cooling optimization technology helped AT&T achieve a 25 percent reduction in cooling energy per year in the data center. Because of the energy efficiencies this project helped to achieve, AT&T’s return on investment was reached in less than 26 months.

“SynapSense was proud to work with AT&T on this data center optimization project in which our Data Center Energy Management technology helped generate significant energy savings for AT&T,” said Peter Van Deventer, CEO of SynapSense.

“The energy management solution we implemented has dramatically increased reliability and resiliency in our data center facility, and has resulted in substantial energy and cost savings for that facility,” said Paul Vetter, director property management Texas, AT&T.
