Telx®, an interconnection and colocation provider in strategic North American markets, today announced that it has obtained a SAS 70 Type II report covering its data center facilities in New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The report, issued with an unqualified opinion following a lengthy independent audit of Telx’s control processes in 12 facilities, demonstrates the company’s leadership in operational excellence and underscores their commitment to providing industry-leading security and control processes for its customers. Through this report, Telx’s colocation customers can now realize time and cost savings by eliminating the need for their own independent audits of these 12 Telx facilities.

“Many colocation customers, specifically in the financial services, cloud provider, hosted software and content delivery industries, are required to conduct yearly audits of their vendor companies for their own internal purposes. This can be a costly and lengthy procedure,” said Jason Schafer, Senior Analyst, Datacenters for Tier1 Research. “In order to remain competitive, SAS 70 Type II Certification is a crucial element for today’s colocation providers to enable their customers to save time and money.”

SAS 70 is the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70, developed by the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). This examination provides a company's customers and its independent auditors with information about the company’s internal control structure, thereby assuring that the company is committed to operational excellence. Telx has obtained a Type II report, which indicates that it has been officially audited, attests to the design and operational effectiveness of procedures for security, controls and operations. The audit certifies that Telx has implemented and follows these documented and controlled procedures in 12 locations in nine U.S. cities. The locations covered by the SAS 70 report are as follows:

  • New York City: 60 Hudson Street; 111 Eighth Avenue
  • Atlanta: 56 Marietta Street
  • Chicago: 350 East Cermak; 600 South Federal
  • Dallas: 2323 Bryan Street; 8435 North Stemmons Freeway
  • New Jersey: 100 Delawanna Avenue, Clifton
  • Miami: 36 North East 2nd Street
  • San Francisco: 200 Paul Avenue
  • Los Angeles: 600 West 7th Street
  • Phoenix: 120 East Van Buren Street
The SAS 70 audit, performed by Weaver and Tidwell, LLP, evaluated Telx’s complete colocation and interconnection environment, including its transition and activation procedures, security, help desk, problem change management process, monitoring systems, operations, disaster recovery program, and other elements.

"Telx is fully committed to following the most stringent security and operational controls to ensure we meet our enterprise and service provider customers key data center requirements,” said Brad Hokamp, CMO of Telx. "Achieving SAS 70 Type II Certification demonstrates Telx’s continued focus and investment to provide the highest level of service.”
