Mellanox completed its acquisition of Voltaire this week in what many are seeing as a positive move for the industry. To set the stage, today Mellanox CEO Eyal Waldman issued an open letter to welcome customers, partners, and resellers to the newly combined company.

The text of the letter is as follows: “Voltaire has been a long-time partner and customer of Mellanox, and I look forward to the exciting opportunities that this union brings. The demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency server and storage connectivity is accelerating in the HPC, enterprise, mega warehouse data centers, cloud computing, internet, and Web 2.0 markets. Starting today, we now have more of a solid foundation for market-leading solutions to address and serve a larger and more diverse customer base.

“Now, if you’re like me, you might be wondering what’s next for the company, which now describes itself as “the leader in end-to-end InfiniBand and Ethernet connectivity solutions.” It’s a simple story, really. With the addition of Voltaire software and products, Mellanox is now well-positioned to go after new business.

“Make no mistake–Mellanox is looking to expand it’s market far beyond HPC.”
