VYCON Partners with Emerson Network Power
Under the agreement, Emerson Network Power will offer VYCON’s innovative and highly efficient Voltage Direct Connect (VDC) flywheel systems as an alternative or complement to lead-acid batteries used with three-phase Liebert UPS systems, such as the Liebert NXL, Liebert NX, Liebert Npower, and Liebert Series 610. The VDC will provide customers with a battery-free, environmentally friendly alternative by providing sufficient ride-through for short duration power outages and/or bridging time until a standby engine-generator can come on line. During the second half of 2010, various Liebert UPS models were extensively tested at VYCON’s Yorba Linda, Calif., facility.
“We are very pleased to enter into this agreement with Emerson Network Power and be a part of their extensive power solutions portfolio,” said Frank DeLattre, president of VYCON. “Our award-winning clean energy storage systems are a perfect complement to Liebert UPS systems, providing customers with a single source solution for UPS and clean, environmentally friendly energy storage. While the agreement was recently finalized, traction with Emerson Network Power’s customers has already occurred, with more than two dozen installation sites comprising approximately 13 megawatts of flywheel energy storage.”
“The agreement with VYCON gives us the ability to now offer an environmentally friendly power protection solution for our mission-critical customers,” said Peter Panfil, vice president and general manager for the Liebert AC Power business of Emerson Network Power. “The reliability, reduced footprint, reduced TCO and environmental sustainability of VYCON’s VDC systems are of great interest to many of our customers in the data center, health care and finance/banking market sectors. The integration of the battery-free and lead-free flywheels with Liebert UPS solutions will provide great benefits to our customers as they work towards improving energy efficiencies and reducing their carbon footprint.”
