Uptime Institute has announced the addition of senior technology editor, Matt Stansberry, as the organization’s director of content and publications. Stansberry, a well-known industry expert, has researched data center trends for nearly a decade and wrote an award winning book on data center energy efficiency. Stansberry will focus on the development of research-driven publications and programming by tapping into the Institute’s expert leadership, the Site Uptime Networks (Network), and industry-at-large.

“We are thrilled to welcome Matt to our team to further enhance the Institute’s contributions to the data center industry,” said Julian Kudritzki, vice president, Uptime Institute, LLC. “Matt’s knowledge and passion for the betterment of the data center industry, combined with the unique expertise and end-user-focus that defines the Uptime Institute, creates a unique opportunity to develop unbiased, actionable resources for data center owners and operators. We look forward to working with Matt to develop this content and share it with the community.”

In his new role, Stansberry will be responsible for driving thought leadership initiatives to address key industry issues. These projects will be collaborative in nature, grounded in the real-life experience of Network members as well as the industry-at-large. Additionally, Stansberry will expand the Uptime Institute’s outreach to other industry organizations and assist in the content development of events, such as the Uptime Institute Symposium, and a new series of multimedia presentations on pressing industry topics.

“As someone who has been actively involved in the data center industry, I have great admiration and respect for the Uptime Institute and see a tremendous opportunity to capitalize upon its expertise and resources to assist practitioners in their everyday tasks running their data centers,” said Stansberry. “The Institute has a great deal to offer to the rapidly evolving data center industry, which is in constant need of advice and guidance to address changing regulations and newly available equipment and standards.”

Stansberry has reported on the convergence of technology, facility management, and energy issues in the data center since 2003. He joined Tech Target in 2005 to launch SearchDataCenter.com, and has managed that site and multiple other Tech Target properties in the company's data center media group. He won an award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors for his eBook, The Green Data Center: Energy Efficient Computing for the 21st Century.

Most recently, Matt was editorial director of Tech Target's data center and server virtualization publications. Prior to joining Tech Target, he was the managing editor ofToday’s Facility Manager and a staff writer for the U.S. Green Building Council.
