Telx, an interconnection and colocation provider in strategic North American markets, today announced nine new service provider customers to its Ethernet Exchange Charter Customer program. Charter Customer participants include KDDI, Expereo, FiberLight, Intelepeer, Intellifiber Networks, IPNetZone, OneSource, Packet Exchange, and RRSat.

“With its one-to-many network scalability features, Telx’s Ethernet Exchange gives Intellifiber the ability to rapidly and cost-effectively extend our reach in the U.S., meeting our enterprise customers’ increasing connectivity demands,” said Clint Heiden, president, Intellifiber Networks. “We selected Telx’s Ethernet Exchange in the U.S. due to their market-leading carrier density in their strategic data centers, offering us the flexibility to extend our reach not only via virtual Ethernet connections, but also with physical interconnections.”

Telx has turned up multiple Charter Customers on their platform and will continue to work with them on testing the service. Telx is also providing these Charter Customers with assistance in building customer business models, helping them buy and sell Ethernet service via the Telx Ethernet Exchange. In addition to the Ethernet Exchange, Telx has a full suite of interconnection options available, including physical cross-connects, Sonet-based Virtual Exchange services and Telx Internet Exchange (TIE) for IP peering connectivity, giving customers a wide choice of hybrid solutions that meet their full requirements.

"The Telx Ethernet Exchange Charter Customer program has assembled a high-value community of global and U.S.-based Ethernet service providers, who leverage the Exchange to meet the demand of their enterprise customers without the time and cost associated with establishing private network-to-network interface (NNI) connections,” said Brad Hokamp, CMO of Telx. “Through our relationship with Neutral Tandem, our customers also have access to all of the customers on the Neutral Tandem Ethernet Exchange in 14 U.S. locations, extending the community to over 20 service providers, for the largest Ethernet Exchange coverage in the U.S.”

Telx will join other Ethernet Exchange experts on a live, interactive panel, “Carrier Ethernet Exchanges – The Catalyst for Market Growth,” at the Ethernet Expo, on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. Eastern at the Hyatt New York City.
