This session will explore the current state of the standards and qualifications for IT equipment, as well potential energy savings.
- Energy Star for IT Equipment
- Energy Star for Servers
- Energy Star for Storage
- Energy Star for Networks
While each of the above IT hardware categories are more energy efficient than previous models, their highly variable heat loads may have a hidden and unintended negative effect on data center power and cooling system operation, as well as facility side energy efficiency.
This session will also review some of the features such as Power Capping and varying IT Fan profiles which can impact the airflow requirements, as well as the temperature rise across the IT hardware which impacts the return air temperatures to the cooling equipment.
