Crain’s Cleveland Business is reporting that AT&T plans to make an initial investment of $120 million to build a data center in an existing AT&T data center located in Akron, OH, that will process information sent via mobile phones.
AT&T has stated it may make additional investments in the mobility data center. Tom Pelto, president of AT&T Ohio released a prepared statement that said the investment is a “true testament to the hard work of policy makers to keep our state competitive and well positioned for investment.”
AT&T has stated the added data center capacity will be an important factor in its future “4G” service capability.
