Hurricane Electric has announced that it has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) at the Netrality Data Center located at 1301 Fannin Street in Houston, TX. This is Hurricane Electric’s second PoP in the city and 4th in the state.

Located in the heart of Houston’s downtown business district, 1301 Fannin has an expansive long-haul carrier presence and a robust interconnection infrastructure. The facility offers both data center and neutral interconnection services to providers, carriers, and enterprise customers and has multiple (N+1) cooling options. Due to its strategic location, 1301 Fannin provides direct network access to the Gulf of Mexico with services extending into Mexico and is HIPPA and PCI compliant.

According to a recent news report, Mayor Sylvester Turner plans to build on the city’s existing technology ecosystem to make Houston one of the country’s top tech hubs. In May, Turner organized a task force to explore new options that will bring technology opportunities to the city with the end goal of creating both an innovation district and “the world’s premier data science center.”

Hurricane Electric’s new PoP at 1301 Fannin will provide customers of Netrality and others in the Greater Houston area with access to the company’s vast global network. Tenants within the data center can now tap into Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports and as a result, both new and existing customers will be able to experience increased throughput, reduced latency and improved reliability.

“Houston has seen a unique demand for additional bandwidth options and we’re excited to establish a second location in the city to provide customers with low cost and high-speed connectivity,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric.  “The city is a growing technological center within the United States and our newest PoP will allow customers of Netrality to tap into the bandwidth and reach of Hurricane Electric’s rich global network. We are grateful for the opportunity to support them.”
