Hurricane Electric has announced that it has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Telvent Carrierhouse, located at Acer 30-32, in Barcelona. This is Hurricane Electric’s second PoP in Spain.

Operated by Schneider Electric, the Telvent Carrierhouse Barcelona is a carrier neutral facility, providing data center and high-speed connectivity solutions to customers throughout Barcelona and the surrounding area. Hurricane Electric’s new PoP in this location will furnish customers with a variety of options though 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections as well as lower latency and fewer router hops.

Because Hurricane Electric supports both IPv6 and Ipv4 over the same connection at no additional charge, businesses utilizing IP Transit from the company will also have the opportunity to offer their customers seamless access to IPv6 connectivity if they desire. All core nodes at this PoP employ 100 Gbps or multiple 10 Gbps (OC-192 / STM-64) connections and core routers are comprised of a combination of backbone circuits, exchange ports, and private peering connections.

“Even after opening the Madrid PoP in 2013, Hurricane Electric has seen a surging demand for quality Internet connectivity in the Spanish market, leading us to establish a new PoP in Barcelona,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. “I am delighted that businesses in Barcelona will now gain access to Hurricane Electric’s rich global network and have the opportunity to purchase high-speed transit at a reasonable price.”
