Fujitsu has announced the launch of its FUJITSU Managed Infrastructure Service Data center Management Solution to provide support for customer data centers, covering conception, planning, design, construction, and operations.

The new Datacenter Management Solution leverages Fujitsu's data center expertise cultivated over more than twenty years and takes into account expected changes to the ICT environment brought about by technological advances. Fujitsu will provide this expertise to support from the perspectives of facilities infrastructure, facilities operations, and ICT operations for customers building new data centers or operating existing data centers.

By taking a systematic approach to the respective know-how of the Fujitsu First-Class Architectural Office, which has a high degree of specialized capabilities in both ICT systems and construction, and Fujitsu's data center planning and operations business units, the new solution seeks to contribute sustainable value by offering services throughout the lifecycle of a customer's data center.

In recent years, as cloud computing and virtualization have made deeper inroads into business, and with the acceleration in the complexity of enterprise systems, there is growing use of data centers as ICT infrastructure for the stable running of enterprise systems.

Data centers, however, face their own challenges, including the need to make adequate disaster-prevention countermeasures and energy-conservation measures as facilities age or when work areas are converted into machine rooms. In addition, there is also a growing trend for companies to consider locating their data centers to sites outside Japan as their businesses grow.

To address these various types of data center issues, Fujitsu is now providing Datacenter Management Solution, which provides support for data centers, from conception to planning, design, construction, and operations. Combining expertise gained from over 20 years of building and operating more than 100 of Fujitsu's own data centers around the world with the expertise of Fujitsu First-Class Architectural Office, which provides the FUJITSU Managed Infrastructure Service Green Infrastructure Solution(1), Fujitsu provides services that cover every phase of the lifecycle of a customer data center. By doing so, it helps to continually enhance the value of customer data centers.

Features of the Data enter Management Solution include:

  • Support for data center conceptual planning. Based on Fujitsu's know-how gained through its own data center operations, the solution helps clients form conceptual plans for their data centers, covering areas such as the latest trends in ICT and facilities, and the formulation of plans for investment recovery.
  • Support for launching and refining ICT operations. The solution supports operations processes and the operational framework for ICT equipment, from planning through configuration. Fujitsu also provides ICT operations remotely from its own data centers in order to reduce customers' workloads and help them operate more efficiently.
  • Support for launching and refining facilities operations. The solution identifies what aspects of a data center's facilities need to be managed and supports the design of facility operations, such as power, cooling, and security. It is also possible for Fujitsu to provide facility operations support from its own data centers on behalf of the customer.
  • Support for launching and refining facilities infrastructure. The solution provides support for data center construction, including site surveys, lists of requirements, design, construction/construction oversight(2), and periodic facility diagnostics. The solution works to support reduced power consumption by facilities, to flexibly scale up ICT systems, and even to optimize facilities in budget-appropriate stages.
