Colo Atl has announced that its owner and founder, Tim Kiser, will serve as a panelist for the Second Annual Washington, D.C. & Mid-Atlantic Data Center Summit on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA. The conference features industry thought leaders who will examine the East Coast region’s most important trends, patterns, opportunities and challenges, while assessing the latest issues heading key stakeholders' agendas from both the enterprise end-user and data center perspectives.

Kiser will speak on the event’s panel titled, “In Pursuit of the ‘Model Data Center:’ How Rising Demand, New Innovations and Energy Efficiency Challenges are Changing Design and Development in 2014.” The panel, moderated by Andy Jimenez, vice president of technology for Anixter, will take place on Sept. 16 from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm. Panel discussion topics include:

  • Has the industry moved closer to a “model” design? If so, what is it?
  • Analysis of new trends in design and construction: Analysis of building materials, i.e. roofing, siding, floors, insulation
  • Analysis and review: How are data center operators finding cost savings on existing infrastructure equipment?
  • Innovations in power protection and cooling methodologies
  • Innovations in physical infrastructure and how will they impact today’s data center design
  • Are colo customers really as weary of non-traditional infrastructure systems for colo providers as the industry suggests?

“I may be the owner and founder of Colo Atl, but I’m an engineer at heart,” states Kiser. “It is an absolute joy and honor to bring that engineer’s perspective to this important discussion. Our industry is evolving; no question, and I am thankful for events like the D.C. & Mid-Atlantic Data Center Summit that exist to educate and empower the industry to meet the challenges brought about by this evolution.”
