SunGard Availability Services Launches Cloud-Based Managed Recovery Offerings

Application availability is a key priority for IT organizations supporting mission-critical business processes. But many companies grapple with identifying the most effective, secure and efficient solution that fits the complexity of their IT environments. To help organizations meet this challenge, SunGard Availability Services is augmenting its portfolio of offerings with Recover2Cloud, a suite of managed recovery services backed by guaranteed service levels.

As part of all Recover2Cloud services, SunGard assumes recovery responsibility on behalf of an organization, with skilled operations staff driving solution deployment and performing 24/7 monitoring, troubleshooting and testing. In case of an outage in the customer’s production environment, SunGard also performs the recovery.

This new suite of services leverages a secure, enterprise-grade cloud platform and delivers a variety of recovery time and recovery point service levels.

Recover2Cloud for Server Replication incorporates asynchronous server-based replication and is suited for virtual, physical and cloud-based applications requiring recovery in less than four hours.

Recover2Cloud for Vaulting restores data from an online vault and delivers application recovery in less than twenty-four hours. An additional service in this family, leveraging storage virtualization technology, is expected to be released later this year.

"For most firms, continuous access to data and information has never been more critical than it is today. The resilience of these businesses, therefore, is heavily tied to IT," stated Laura DuBois, program vice president, IDC. "SunGard's Recover2Cloud services enhance its existing portfolio with important features like SLA guarantees, service automation and recovery orchestration, and enterprise-class services. Organizations are advised to look for these types of features, and carefully evaluate their service provider's capability to deliver them, in order to gain best value for their recovery investment."

“In the world of application availability, there is no one-size-fits-all solution,” said Larry Coble, senior vice president and general manager, recovery services at SunGard Availability Services. “Leveraging a cloud platform enables us to expand the recovery options we offer to our customers, both as stand-alone services and as part of tiered recovery solutions. Based on what we’re hearing from customers, the managed recovery aspect we are building into many of our services is expected to help deliver significant value. It is an area where in-house knowledge is often missing, and where SunGard has significant experience.”

SunGard also offers consulting services that support organizations in developing and managing solutions in the areas of enterprise resiliency, technology architecture and infrastructure operations.
