Gale Technologies’ Services Reduce IT Provisioning

relationships with NetApp and Cisco to build an ecosystem foundation
for delivering Infrastructure-as-a-Service and private, public, or
hybrid cloud offerings.

Green Data Center Alliance Announces NYSERDA Commercial & Industrial Innovation Program
The
Green Data Center Alliance (GDCA), uniting data center owners and
utilities for IT Energy Efficiency, announced the award of a $500,000
New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
contract that will help provide a guide for data centers to
significantly lower their energy consumption. The funding will allow
the Alliance to create a system of best practices for data center
operators, rate selected data centers against standard metrics,
provide options for participating centers to improve efficiency, and
verify data on energy users. Data centers are one of the fastest
growing sectors of energy users in New York State.

Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Abraham Calls for Collaboration on Energy
The
United States faces serious consequences if it continues current
energy consumption without developing alternative energy sources, new
technology, and increased efficiency, according to former U.S.
Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, who served as the keynote
speaker at an energy symposium in Austin, TX.

Phoenix NAP Datacenter Announces Grand Opening
Phoenix
NAP, a next generation datacenter and network access point, announced
on June 28th it was open and operating. Construction initially began
in June of 2009. “One of the things we set out to do was create a
datacenter that could meet today’s high capacity, data-intensive
needs and provide enough scalability for future IT requirements.

Uptime Institute Releases International Standard for Data Center Operations
In
a July 1 press relesase, The Uptime Institute (Institute) introduced
a new standard for data center owners, operators, and managers: Tier
Standard: Operational Sustainability. This standard addresses the
facility’s management behaviors and risks that affect long-term
data center uptime by aligning the infrastructure’s capabilities,
as defined by the Tier Classification System (I-IV), with its ongoing
management.
